I have a couple of old WorldPoints cards. I pretty much only use them for the occasional special offers. Currently one is giving me 5X points on gas/grocery/drug/restaurant. For one quarter last year, both gave me 5X points on everything. Both are slowly building up to a decent redemption value. On one of the WorldPoints cards, they're offering me "the opportunity to upgrade your existing Bank of America credit card to the BankAmericard CashRewards Visa Signature credit--with no annual fee." It appears to be the same program as my former Schwab card (except without the FTF waiver). So this card doesn't do anything special for me (I already get at least 4% on gas and 2% on grocery otherwise, usually more). But it does immediately convert the 3,158 in points to $31.58 cash. This all seems like a plus. The only downside might be the loss of those future 5X promos, but I suppose I could still get quarterly offers on the CashRewards card too, as I did Q1 on the ex-Schwab card with a 3% statement credit on gas/grocery/drug/restaurant.Am I missing anything here? Any reason not to take the bait?Oh, yeah, also thinking about taking advantage of the current $100 bonus to open a BofA checking account. That way I can get a 10% bonus on cashing in the $31.58 in rewards.Chris.
